Firefighter/Paramedic

The Lockwood Fire District in Billings, Montana is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Qualified candidates may be offered an interview, and are subject to a background investigation if offered employment. New employees will be required to attend a 12 to 14-week fire academy prior to being assigned to a 24-hour shift, and a medical preceptorship prior to being signed off to provide Paramedic care on the ambulance.

Must provide the following with application:

• High School diploma or General Educational Development equivalent (GED)
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Current National Registry Paramedic Certification. Current National Registry EMT, with documentation that you are enrolled in an accredited Paramedic program, or letter stating willingness to attend a Paramedic program if offered position. Candidate must pass the National Registry Test for EMT-Paramedic in order to remain employed.

Eligibility for Employment will require that the candidate must:

• Meet minimum health and physical qualifications as established by the Lockwood Fire Department referencing NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.
• Pass a physical from a licensed physician of the Lockwood Fire District’s choosing. (Paid by District)
• A current certificate from a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with a pass rating. Certificate shall be 365 days or less from date of test.
• A current, valid driver's license, having been licensed for a minimum of two years, and insurable by the Fire District’s insurer. A Montana Driver’s License must be obtained within 3 months of hiring.

Pay and Benefits:

Full benefits can be obtained by request. The position offers a starting salary of $53,623.71 annually, with an additional $6,000 annual stipend for licensed EMT-P. Medical benefits are paid for employee and include vision and dental. Coverage for family members is available at cost. Employees that become Confirmed Firefighters will receive an increase in salary to $55,731.00 plus Paramedic Pay, Education Pay, and Longevity Pay ($62,271.00).
